been working on this for a little while, inspired to start this by Sparks' Zelda game he posted at SFGHQ. Basic engine test, at the moment it contains: *Basic movement *sword (Haven't added the charge blade technique yet, though) *Pushing walls *Pushable Blocks *destructable plantlife *Zelda scrolling The link sprite was something I ripped a couple of weeks ago, then edited up using a palette from another Link sprite i found at www.purezc.com. Also got my background graphics from there, by downloading the Zelda Classic Quest Editor and ripping the tiles from that. Pics: Sorry about the crappy GIF's it looks much better in game. www.btinternet.com/~drbushell/ZeldaJE.zipLink to engine test. Its a .exe from MMF 1.5. IF you can't seem to run it check you have CNCS232.dll

nice engine how did you make Link no "bouce all over the place" when he is running into an object (eg: run into wall and keep pressing forward)

Im using a static movement for link rather than the built in platform movement. its harder to do, but I cna get better results.

clever I used standard 8 directions for Link in Zelda: DIH, but the rest of the game's engine is built by not using pre-defined engines (eg: Octerocks)

I use the built in 8-dir movment, becuse i like to put more time into the game itself than jut his basic movment (i use static for evry thing else)

Thats the same way I think about my game Although I do want Link to have all of his abilities which are hard to program (he currently has the sword charge, and can lift things too

I just notice there was a link to the engine test! Anyway, I downloaded it and its awesome. The only problem I found so far is when you go back to a screen that you were already in, the grass seems to be above you. Just set it when it is recreated make it bring to back. Otherwise, very good!

Wow, nice work Hermit! Hmm...seems like I'm going to have to hide in a hole somewhere to work on my engine techniques!
only one problem I can see at all at the moment, and it's that Link uses his left hand to swing his sword, and on the right sowrd swing animation, he switches to his right.
